How to Use iPad for Sales Transcription

1/31/2011

Hi; For the last 6 months, I've been using the iPad on estimates for my work. And when I first decided to try it, I thought it would be an extension of what I've been doing for the past 15 years, which is carrying a photo album of our work and letters of recommendation. I figured this might be an easier way to carry it, and I could also show videos. I had this vision that people would love seeing all of our certificates for being an EPA lead renovator, letters of recommendation, hundreds of pictures, these videos, but actually, the most use I've gotten out of it is showing what potential customers are interested in certain processes. For example, how do we protect their grounds, their plants when we're stripping paint, how do we protect cars...on the interiors, how do we strip wallpaper, how do we protect furniture, how do we repair holes in walls… [Cut to Scott working] Scott: "The condensation's only building on the pipe." John: "And that pipe is cool? 50 degrees?" I have the videos queued up. If you're in downtown Los Angeles, or downtown Seattle, the bandwidth is really good; you can stream the Youtube video. If you're not, if you're out of the Valley in Los Angeles, you will need to have the video ready as a player. I put an icon on my desktop and have it ready to play. I've shown videos about 25 times in the last 6 months on estimates. I think a lot of people aren't really interested, but some people that are interested are very interested, and I think that it's a great help not only for your business, but if you're involved in a non-profit to show what your money's being used for. If you have any questions on how I'm doing this, ping me. I made this 'cause a lot of people have been asking me what I've been doing. So, good luck. Thanks!
